Since the late 19th century they settled in the area fisherfolk. In 1929, 30
Cato June, the parish of Santa Elena was created. Then due to growth in 1937,
December 22 was transformed in Canton.
In the 40 US soldiers they arrived in Chipipe that were installed after it was built
Salinas Yacht Club and from there is momentum thanks to the investment of foreign and domestic,
especially people of Guayaquil, the construction of buildings and places for the summer and
descanzo.
A few years ago Santa Elena leave of belonging to Guayaquil and was erected as a province
independent. That brought some organizational changes mainly in terms of government and
posiblito public investment in hospitals and public attention.
